1962 Born in February 16th, Tokyo.
1983-1985 Studied composition and harmony under Masaru TANAKA and counterpoint under Hiroaki MINAMI. 1983-1985 Participated in the seminor of Joji YUASA in Tokyo College of Music. 1987-1990 Participated in the seminor of Jo KONDO in Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. 1986 Participated in an art festival titled “Yakai”(Night Party) in Striped House Museum ,Tokyo. 1987 Invited and performed a new piece in Contemporary Music Exhibition sponsored by Japan Society for Contemporary Music. 1987 Participated in the concert titled “New wave of music” in Sendai. 1990 Organized a young composers’ group “TEMPUS NOVUM”. 1992 His first solo concert in X-Point, Shinjuku, coraborated with video art directed by Takuji YAMAGUICHI 1995 Awarded the 16th IRINO Prize for his “A Double Tour”. 1995 Issued his first solo CD titled “Systematic Metal”. 1995 His second solo concert in Hokutopia, Tokyo. 1996 Visited Europe for the first time and had four lectures about his music in Germany and France, and his new piece was performed in Cologne. 1996 Sound Installation Exhibition with contemporary art, titled “Circurating Daily Life” in Striped House Museum, Tokyo. 1997 Featured his music on the satelite radio program “Music Bird”. 1999 Presentation about his music in “Composition Forum” in Tokyo. 1999 Participated in Sagi Poiesis III in Sagi Island, Hiroshima. 1962年東京生まれ。東京音大の湯浅譲二ゼミ、東京芸術大学の近藤譲ゼミに参加、南弘明氏に対位法を学ぶ。大学在学中に作曲の手ほどきを田中賢氏に受けた以外は殆ど独学。1986年、東京音大ゼミの仲間と「月刊カセット」を発行し、約２年に渡って毎月制作、販売。1987年、月刊カセットによるパフォーマンス（六本木ストライプハウス美術館）。1986年、作曲家グループEverything Is Expressiveに参加し、以後最終回（1988年）まで企画を行う。1987年、松平頼暁氏の推薦により日本現代音楽協会主催「現代の音楽展」に外部から参加、同年仙台音楽祭「新しい音楽の波」にも招待される。1990年、若手作曲家グループTEMPUS NOVUMを結成、今日までに14回のコンサートを開く。1992年、ヴィデオ作家山口卓司氏の協力により初の個展を開催（新宿X-Point）。1995年、『二重の鍵』（A Double Tour）が第16回入野賞受賞。同年、「新しい世代の芸術祭」の一環で２度目の個展を開催。1996年、JLM入野義朗音楽研究所にて「自作を語る」を行う。1996年、音楽と美術の総合イヴェント『循環する日常生活』(Circulating Daily Life)を発表（六本木ストライプハウス美術館）。1997年、衛星ラジオ「Music Bird」にて鈴木治行特集が放送される。1999年、「作曲フォーラム’99」にて自作についてのプレゼンテーション。同年、鷺ポイエーシス（広島県三原）に招かれ、映画監督アレクサンドル・ソクーロフ、近藤譲とのシンポジウムに参加。2000年、映画『M/OTHER』の音楽で第54回毎日映画コンクール音楽賞を受賞。
2000年、サイレント映画「ノスフェラトゥ」（Nosferatu）、翌年には「戦艦ポチョムキン」（Potemkin）にライウ゛で音楽をつけるパフォーマンス。2004年1月、「作曲フォーラム」にて自作の映画音楽についてのプレゼンテーション。コンサートやレクチャーなどの企画にも関心を持ち、これまでにジェームズ・テニー（レクチャー／2001）、リュック・フェラーリ（来日公演／2002,2003）、トリオ・フィボナッチ（公演／2003）などを企画してきた。他ジャンルとのコラボレーションにも積極的で、これまでにも演劇、美術、映像などとの共同作業を行っている。芸術全般についての批評活動も行い、作品は国内外で演奏、放送されている。現在の作曲の方向は主に３つあり、一つは疑似反復的な書法によって流れを切断してゆくもの、もう一つは「句読点」と題したソロ楽器のシリーズ、そして「語りもの」と自ら呼んでいる音響と意味性との関係性に主眼を置いたものである。
