saiki.jpgYumi Saiki studied composition with Bin Kaneda at the Aichi Prefectural University of Arts and Music, Nagoya. She continued her studies with Yoshihisa Taïra at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris and with Paul Méfano at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, from which she graduated with top honors “Premier prix à Premier nommé” in 1995. She has received the Akutagawa Award(2005), First prize in composition at the Nagoya Cultural Promotion Competition(1993) and Second prize in National Music Competition of Japan(1993). In 2005, She pursued further research into electronic music and composition at IRCAM in Paris. Her works have been performed by ensemble 2E2M, ensemble L'itinéraire, Alter Ego, ensemble courage, Windspiel, PAN.KLANG, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, New Japan philharmonic Orchestra, Kyoto symphony orchestra, Tokyo city philharmonic orchestra, Kanagawa philharmonic orchestra, Tokyo sinfonietta, Shirakawa sinfonia, Izumi sinfonietta, Art respirant, ensemble contemporaryα. Her music has been presented at international festivals in Darmstadt, Saarbrücken,Caen, and Takefu, as well as in concerts around the world( Korea, Germany, France, Belgium, U.S.A, Mexico).
